Black people shouldn't have had to live through it and thank goodness it's mostly a thing of the past now.

I read Rebecca Stevens here on Medium, she would say otherwise. She's written a number of articles on traveling while black, or on housing. I joined the local NAACP chapter during COVID. One issue they are working on is discrimination while shopping. An example, a black woman cannot cash a check, yet her white husband (both names are on the check), cashes them just fine. This has happened repeatedly to her in different stores in the same chain.

I have a black friend in town who was pulled over 3 times in one day, no ticket. I was telling a white friend of mine who's conservative/libertarian, he wanted to know the circumstances, there must be an explanation. When I was telling my black friend this, he told me he's been pulled over, over 100 times in his life. This is a guy I've played basketball with for over 20 years. Just a regular guy. I've been pulled over 6 times in my life.

The resistance to examine racism in America, is understandable, it's uncomfortable. But to say that it is a thing of the past is baffling.
