I dunno. I've thought of something similar recently... can only POC code switch? As a young child, I was the only Yank in a British classroom. I picked up an accent I was turning on and off without realizing it. I've been the only white guy the the gym, or in the minority, more times that I can count when playing ball. I picked up vocal mannerisms there too.

There's appropriation, imitation, and unconsciously trying to fit in.
