I think one of the problems is that women want the same things from men that they get from women in platonic relationships, just with a male lens. Only, men don't do that with each other. For example, I'll help a buddy move or build a deck, I'll buy him a beer after a break up, but I'm not going to endlessly bail him out or 'be there for him' anything near to the degree that some women seemingly do for each other.

There's certain kind of shit that falls into the boyfriendy/girlfriendy categories, we really shouldn't be doing for each other in platonic relationships.
