Interesting. I hadn't heard of the Mythopoetic Men’s Movement, by name. Though I am familiar with some of the authors that apparently influenced it.
The Wikipedia page said that the mythopoetic movement tends not to take explicit stances on political issues (and) because of this neutrality, the movement became a target of social criticism by feminists, and was often characterized as anti-intellectual as well as apolitical.
If true, that's frustrating. I don't think the answers, especially relating to spirit and purpose, lie in intellectualizing either to the nth degree. (That is not a rejection of reason, either.) And we can see how politicizing issues sure seems to backfire…
