It was not presented to me as ending patriarchy. Rather, that by addressing the issues feminism had identified (equal pay/opportunity, sexism, stereotyping, etc.) men would benefit as well. I took ‘men would benefit as well’ to mean that I, also, could talk about my issues, that my voice would be heard.

I was naive. And I totally own, that was my mistake. Feminism is not about hearing men’s issues and I’m not advocating that it should. I do suggest that feminism should simply drop the ‘men will benefit’ PR angle. I don’t see that working.

Jordan Peterson has long jumped the shark. However, I’ve seen people him misquote or deliberately misrepresent what he has said more times than I can count. What he initially said in speaking to men was generally fair, and it got ridiculed. This is one reason why men dig in.
