Johnny, thanks for posting. And yes, I’ve read a number of your articles. Great photos.

I haven’t been on the ground as you have, and I take your point about two days of rioting out of 365 days of peaceful protest. I’m in Oregon. So my social group is usually talking about what happened in Portland as covered by this AP Wire story: Portland’s grim reality: 100 days of protests, many violent. From the article:

During the clashes, some have broken windows, set small fires, punctured police car tires with spikes, shined lasers in officers’ eyes and pelted them with rocks and frozen water bottles.

Now, I have seen right-wing media conflating what happened in Portland, to all protests, all the time. And that’s fucked up, distinctions matter. But I don’t think I’m alone in saying what happened in Portland isn’t peaceful protest. And I don’t think it’s productive to dismiss concerns about what that became.

For a number of reasons, I have a lot more to say on this, but I wanted to respond before too much time passed.
