Of course it's not ideal. But the world isn't ideal. There are all sorts of reasons to have financial autonomy. The ugly truth of controlling and abuse, is just one. Some people are simply shitty at managing money or their impulses.

For what it's worth, I've recommended the exact thing women are recommended (have cash and a go bag ready) to men. It's also important to say that having these things or even financial autonomy isn't even about trust, it's a survival instinct/mechanism.
