The dude had friends give him and his living space a total make-over, and the make-over was ruse. Ie: it didn't stick. It wasn't that he hid his hobby, he hid how much it over-took his life... she couldn't find a place to set her bag in his room. Not wanting to live with a slob is legitimate. Not wanting to be with someone who essentially misrepresented themselves is a fair reason to reject someone.
