Black folks shouldn't have to explain this sh!t. A discussion in academic/historical context is different. News coverage is different. Trying to be hip, funny, shocking or titillating are all out of bounds. If you think you'll be criticized for using it, don't use it.

There are a lot of words I don't use. Here's some other words, when you curb your usage of words that people are sensitive about, you're being polite, courteous, and a decent human being. When you look for outlier opportunities, you're being an asshole. Oh, there's nothing 'new' about this.
