With a term like Redskin, that was indeed a derogatory term. And with an image like the goofy Cleveland Indians logo, I see how that could be viewed as disrespectful. But so much of why we choose a mascot is to associate with some largely positive (if shallow) trait for pride and posturing. I mean, that's it. So I've never quite gronked making the naming/image an issue.
