Worth the bother is a good way to put it. Some people are difficult, but they still offer a lot. I've got a peripheral co-worker who's very specific and exacting in certain ways. We groan sometimes, but she also brings lot to the table, she takes on tasks no one else wants to do.

This does not describe someone like Bob Knight, though.
