Would it have made any difference, in your eye, if they were presented side by side? I read Paul Bunyan as a child, or certainly knew the tale. It was just that, a tale. I didn't hear the story of John Henry until I was raising my child. So we read that as well. And as I was raising a daughter, I sought out tales that might appeal to girl, and not just princesses, and across nations.

My point is that many of us were not indoctrinated. And we have made progress. Though I certainly fear we are regressing. And I've never understood the MAGA extrapolations that Trump is this Bunyan like character. He's a fast-food swilling rich white dough boy who's never had a meaningful consequence in his life.
