Yeah, I read that article, she misses a lot of nuance. Some men might jump into relationship sooner than women because they frequently don't have as large a social network. Some of this is because men don't maintain friendships, but also because some women aren't as supportive of his friends/family.

Regardless, a lot of it has to do with whether it was expected. I've observed that the people who didn't see it coming often struggle longer than the ones who did the breaking up. The ones who initiated the break often have emotionally disconnected a lot sooner.

And, of course, each person is different. Some people will withdraw, others will look for someone else. I don't think either is gender specific.
